Written Questions (to turn in)

  1. Harrington divides the chapter into six periods: Early Events, 1800-1849, 1850-1899, 1900-1949, 1950-1999, and 2000-PRES. For the first five of these sections, answer the following questions:
    • Are there any events listed in this time period that surprise you -- e.g., developments that you would have guessed were more recent? (or older?)
    • Which of the developments are still commonly used today? Which have been largely discarded?
  2. For the last section, 2000-PRES, are there any developments on the list that you didn't realize were in existence?
  3. Question 3 from page 53 in the text.
  4. Question 5 from page 53 in the text.

Research

  1. Choose one of the "major events in the development of technology" and do some independent research to find out more about the details (who, what, where, when, how, why...). Prepare to share with the class.
