Requirements
Explore, evaluate, and summarize the functioning of several search tools.
Steps
- Get together with a partner. One partner will be responsible for typing up results, the other for exploring the search tools (you will trade places).
- Download the Search Tool Summary Chart.
- Select three of the listed search tools. Find another search tool that is not listed on the page, and enter the name and URL in a blank row. Delete the remaining rows in the chart.
- Spend 10 minutes exploring each of the selected search tools. Fill in as much information as you can in this time. Try some sample searches. Record both objective and subjective data.
- Spend 10 minutes typing a brief learning summary of what you learned through this process.
Submission
The partner whose name is first alphabetically should:
- Make sure both team members' names are in the Chart file.
- Upload the final summary chart in Sakai.
- Download the chart again and confirm that it is the correct submission.
- In the submission text box, put the following (in order):
- "This lab completed jointly with partner's name."
- "I have verified that the attachment represents my full and final submission."
- Copy the text of your learning summary.
- Send an email to your partner:
- attach the final lab report
- subject line should read: COSC 171 Lab 3.0 Search Engines Final Report
- cc grohrbau@messiah.edu
The other partner should
- Confirm that your partner has uploaded the final lab report.
- Logon to Sakai, and in the submission text box, put the following (in order):
- "This lab completed jointly with partner's name."
- "I have verified that my partner has uploaded the full and final submission."
- Copy the text of your learning summary
